Every Blooming Thing - September Gallery Stroll

Fall is my favorite time of the year.  It’s a time for cozy gatherings with the nicest people and that is why I was very pleased to receive an invitation to the September Gallery Stroll at Every Blooming Thing.  I had a wonderful time from the minute I walked up the pathway and could hear the most beautiful sound of a classical guitar being played by Micheal Lucarelli.  I Love to hear him play and watch as he cradles the guitar with passion.  There was also another guitarist, Jose Bonilla who payed a few lovely songs.

My senses were pleasantly stimulated by the aroma of scented candles of the season, and as I wandered through seeing friendly faces, I couldn’t help noticing all the splendid and unique items on display.
I don’t think there was one thing I didn’t like.  I wanted them all!

I was immediately greeted by the friends of EBT.  They prepared a culinary display of tasty food, and for wine lovers there was plenty of great vino to go around.  It was beautiful to the eye and pleasing to the palette.  The best part about it - it was all a labor of love!

After saying hello to many friends, I went upstairs to “stroll the gallery.”  All I can say is…. if you are looking to decorate your home, office or any space - you definitely should make a point to stop by EBT.  Come to think of it - I can get most of my Christmas shopping done there - Snap!

Thanks Pam for inviting me, and thanks to the very talented and delightful team at EBT for creating a most enjoyable night!  Also, many thanks to the all the artists for taking time to fill our lives with your works of art.  I had a great time and I made some new friends!

Choosing a color palette for your event

To choose a color palette that blends nicely, consult the color wheel. You can pick one up at any craft store in the art section.  When using the color wheel remember opposites are classic color choices.  Red and green or yellow and violet are considered complementary colors.
Related color schemes (or accent colors) are colors next to each other like green, blue green, blue.  Fiddling with shades and tints can give you a lot of different looks depending on how they are used.  Usually a shade (darker) or tint (lighter) combinations look lovely together.  Monochromatic is different tints and shades of the same color like, pale blue to navy with any in between on the scale.  Also picking up paint strips or fabric swatches is very helpful in getting the exact color and is helpful to take to your florist and cake person.

If you go with an intense color, dark or primary (red or blue) use it as a focal color, and use accent colors to frame your main color or neutrals.  Neutrals are white, gray, beige, metallic and black.  Consider one color used sparingly, a metallic used lightly to add drama and another neutral or accent color used more abundantly.  An example of this would be sapphire blue, silver and an abundance of a tint of blue/lavender if you want to play up the winter snow.
Here are a few popular color combinations that work well together:
Turquoise and Red
Purple in different shades
Navy Blue and Silver
Chocolate Brown and Tiffany Blue or Robin Egg Blue
Black and White with Lime accent
Once you’ve chosen your location and colors, you can always get a second opinion from your florist, wedding planner and/or decorator.

Cheers! A Few Tips On Wedding Wine & Spirits

coppola-wine-bottles.jpg

Considering that the amount of alcohol consumed at a wedding reception varies widely. It is safe to estimate that your guests will consume one drink per person, per hour, or about five drinks over the course of the evening. Here are a few standards to go by.
  • A bottle of champagne will fill 6 glasses and 8 if the flutes are narrow
  • A bottle of wine fills 5 glasses
  • A 1 liter bottle of liquor makes about 18 drinks

How many bottles are in a case? What makes up a full bar? These are all questions to consider when planning your special event and another reason to hire a wedding consultant to handle all the details and help save you money.
